A little bit of summer, right here in March

Does it get any better than this? After over 70 inches of snow, constant cold temps...winter is over! Spring came in March, something we aren't used to in NJ. We had a week of sunny weather in the 70s. It was spent outside, in North Park, which is the open space across from our home. It is amazing how many children live around here. Well, they always lived here, but since the younger siblings are now old enough to roam around, they are out. It has been a blast. Makes me want to stay in our humble abode and see what happens as this posse grows up together.

This weekend was amazing. First, we started Baseball Season. Aidan has a great coach (who is also the scout for the 49ers, not bad!). He is great with the kids, is definately teaching them, and is also supportive and patient.
He gave me some pointers for Aidan, things to work on, and Aidan and I have practiced some in this beautiful weather.

We took the kids, just because, on a train ride from Hamilton to New Brunswick. Yes, it is not a long distance, but it was fun to ride the train. We ate at Tumultys, got some summer Rutgers clothes, and headed home for some outside playtime with the herd of children.

BIG BIG NEWS - WE GOT LOGAN BACK ON HIS BIKE!!!!!!!!! He was scared but he realized it was time. He is cautious and is now nicknamed, Driving Ms Daisy. He is taking it really. really. slow.

BIG BIGGER AND BIGGER NEWS. We took the training wheels off of Aidan's bike. We wanted to do it last summer but Evil Kenieval Logan delayed that. One broken arm was enough.
So we did it, thinking, we may need to replace the training wheels. Aidan got on, took off and went. Like a crazy man. No problems, no wobbling, nothing. He is more steady than alot of the kids. He had to show off, even though my heart was pounding. The kids are great around here but there are so many, the path gets a tad blocked and dangerous at times. He was so proud, it was great.
He wants ramps.

OY!

And finally the weekend had another big deal. Aidan is afraid of water. Has always been. Its a real fear. He takes lessons at Peddie and the instructor decided to let him go under, to Aidan's surprise. The scared look on his face, the huffing and puffing to control his upsetment was hard but he got it over with. He did it.
He got his lava lamp.
That was the deal.

We played some more and now I am tired. They are tired. We need to say hello to our beds soon. Rob is in NC as of this morning and I am flying solo this week.

Celebration

The snow is melted, the sun has been shining and the caged animals have been let loose. I love those first days when everyday is a party for the kids. Everyday, the park across the street has children playing. The giggles of children blare through our home. The windows are opened! Ahhh, its great.
We survived a long, cold, snowy winter. They say we had over 70 inches of snow. It's melted and that is something to celebrate!
Oh yea and tomorrow is my 40th birthday. Not sure how that happened. I recall my own fathers 40th in Forked River, during a snowstorm. HOw am I now 40?

I wish for more sunny days, lots more giggles, and that ultimate white cake from Wegmans.
